You should be brushing his teeth from very early, before he even has any teeth. this gets him used to it and keeps the gums clean so the budding teeth will not encounter germs. It can be a game with a lot of interaction as you hold him on his back and gently brush with a soft brush.

You should only use toddler/training tooth paste until the child learns to spit it out then you can switch to fluoride tooth paste.
