Any tips for beginners?

And do you incorporate yoga into these sessions?

Thank you.

  1. I do spend time each morning meditating on Gods word.  I find morning is the best time for me, as it focusses my mind on Him, and the Holy Spirit for the rest of the day.  That way the day always starts well.

I use the dining room as it has french windows that open to look through trees down to the river, which is very restful.  I simple pray for the Holy Spirit to be with me as I relax.  It is at that time that I offer my prayers for family, friends, things of the world that come to mind, and even anyone on this board when they come to mind.

Then I open my bible at a random page and read it.  Then sit back and listen for the message I get from those words.  I then reach in through my spirit to that of Gods and absorb the peace that is there.  Then I offer a prayer of thanks for the time I have had with Him.  This time usually lasts about half an hour, but I do not set a time limit.

I do not need to use yoga or anything else as an aid.

  2. At the beginning of each day. Just read God's Word, the Bible, and meditate on that verse all day long and how it refers to you and before you know it, it will become alive,

  3. I tried a little formal meditation and found it wasn't for me, although I think it is good to practice.  I read a book called "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind" by Suzuki and loved it.  While I don't follow Zen, per se, I do believe that "everything is Zen", as they say, and you can find your meditation practice in all that you do, rather than putting aside time to do a formal practice.

Basically, I think this comes down to being mindful - be mindful as much as you can of everything you are doing and everything going on around you at all times.  This is pretty much impossible for us mere mortals, but thinking in this context begins to put you in the mindset to be mindful and meditate more often.

    Best of luck to you!
