What is the best time of year to have a garage sale?

right about the time BEFORE activities and school starts because during spring people won't buy junk because they just did their cleaning, and during the summer they're saving money for vacations and stuff. but before the activities and auditions and stuff start they don't know what they're gonna need to pay for yet.

I'd have to say from experience, garage sale/yard sales tend to be better in late spring to early fall. It's best if you have your sale on weekends. Also, most people tend to come anywhere from 8-4.

In the spring/ summer if you want people to come to your garage sale you want to do it on a nice warm day which would be in the summer normally they ain't gonna come when its wet and windy so summer would be best.

Late spring.  In the summer everyone either needs money for their vacations or for back to school stuff.

In the fall people are saving up for the holidays.

In Winter everyone is broke from the holidays, and paying for home heating.

if your town has big events like festivals <ive heard of a spoon river drive> where theres a whole bunch of ppl in town and booths of food and shopping that would be a good time

Have a sale in May or early June. After that, it gets hot out, or people lose interest because they have so many other summer activities planned. I usually have a one-day sale - all day Friday starting at 8AM. After lunch, lower the prices on what hasn't sold.

Put up big signs that just say, "Sale" and draw an arrow on the sign pointing in the direction of your home. That way you don't have to put an ad in the newspaper.
