IMHO, every bit of Yellowstone is worthy of seeing. Check out geyser basins: Upper, Midway, Lower and Norris should not be missed. You can spend entire days in Upper and Norris alone. Be sure to watch an Old Faithful eruption from Observation Point.

Spend an evening on the 3rd floor mezz at the Old Faithful Inn, stay up late, play board games, have a toasty (or cold) beverage, and just enjoy the ambiance of this amazing structure.

Check out Mammoth Hot Springs for sites you won't see anywhere else in the park, and go on a walking tour of the headquarters. If you have time, hike Bunsen Peak, just south of Mammoth. You'll get awesome views of Swan Lake Flat, Mammoth, the Absarokas, Mount Everts, Electric Peak... Gardiner, Montana (5 miles north of the north entrance) is a cool place. Try Lumpy's Special at the Sawtooth Deli or any pasta dish at Park Street Grill.

Spend some time at Canyon. Do Uncle Tom's Trail and take a walk to the brink of Lower Falls. Stunning.

Head out early one day to Lamar Valley and join wolf watchers. In my experience, they are all excited and eager to show you what they're looking at, and once you see a wolf, you'll never forget it. Look for mountain goats on Barronette Peak and head out to Cooke City, MT (less than 5 miles from the northeast park entrance) and grab lunch at Beartooth Cafe. Try the Funk Burger.

I could go on and on... basically, anything you do there, anywhere you go, it'll be unforgettable. That's just how Yellowstone is. It's an amazing place to see!

Beginning or late season. Otherwise the best thing you will see is a traffic jam of 800 cars all stopped to take pictures of a bear that is 6 miles away ( which is actually a deer )
