it's 2 weeks BEFORE your period that you ovulate... if you have a normal cycle then it is usually 2 weeks after the start of your period, if you are irregular it is trickier... i was irregular so i went by vaginal discharge... if you can stretch the discharge between your fingers without it breaking you are ovulating... i conceived my son with this method

When you ovulate, which is usually 14 days before you start your next period. Getting to know your cycle really helps. Count day one of your period as the first day of bleeding and keep counting. If your cycle usually lasts approx 28 days [from that first day bleed to the next in your next month] , you will ovulate on day 14. In a 29-day cycle, day 15 etc etc.
