What is the best to feed a very small green frog?

I just found a VERY small green pond frog. My son and I are wondering if we can keep it as a pet. It is quite small, maybe the size of a nickel. It must have just developed from its tadpole stage. Does it sound too young to try to feed anything? and what would be something to try? I've read meal worms and crickets are the best, but it's so tiny, do they eat this small????

  1. To answer your question and jensmith1678's repeated phib killing. wild caught phibs never do well in captivity. the stress of capture and confinement kills many it also weaken the immune system which makes the more likely to suffer from any disease they maybe carrying or catch (which could make them ill or kill them).

further more those "lucky" (not really lucky at all in my eyes) ones that survive suffer from stress related illness, stress related behavior disorders never turely settle in and have a bad quality of life

    please let it go

  2. yes they eat very small insects whatever they can catch ,

imagine how small that would be , very and frogs are reptiles they`ve

been here since ???? so try small insects about one every few days at first

  3. if it has a tail still, it will survive off this for a week or so. You should go to the pet store and pick out the smallest crickets they have and the frog will eat those. It takes awhile, but there are ALOT of tiny crickets at the pet store bins.

  4. I'm afraid that you may not be able to keep it as a in house pet. In the past i've brought everything from frogs to bugs into my house and no matter what i feed them- after looking up there diet-, they end up passing away. The frog would most likely be better off in his normal envirment. what you can do, however, is slightly close off a area of yard so you will know where the frog is and visit it from time to time.

    best of luck =)

  5. The best thing to do is let it go.  My daughter volunteers at a local reptile rescue center and they see so many previously wild animals that come in sick and dying because people tried to make them into pets.  Bringing a wild animal into captivity is a huge stress and stress is one of the top killers of reptiles!!  If you still want a frog for your son, go to the pet store or adopt one.  Save the frog from suffering and save your son from watching it suffer.

  6. I recommend you let it go. But if you decide not to, go to a reptile store and ask them for small crickets and how many $'s worth

    Example-

"Hello, may i have 3$ worth of small crickets"

or you can not use my idea and ask them what to do

  7. if it is possible, you should put it back where it came from unless it is unsafe. frogs that small eat pinhead crickets which are crickets that are the size of a pinhead and have just hatched from eggs. you could also buy wingless fruit flies from petstores. dont feed it anything larger than the width between its eyes or it will choke and die
