What is the best travel route to cover the yucatan peninsula and guatamala?

not sure where to fly into, guatemala city, cancun? other? and what route to take from there. going to be a budget traveler, using buses primarily.

I recommed you to take a flight from Guatemala City to Peten... in Peten, I presume you want to go to Tikal, afterwards take a bus from Peten to Belize and then to Cozumel, then to Tulum and then to Playa del Carmen and end it at Cancun... it's not very expensive, in fact, there are lots of tours because it's a popular route....  There are incredible sight seeings: mayan temples, turquoised beaches and more...
