Was hoping for info on how much calcium and vitamin D, how long to overcome it, or will that just stop it from getting worse and if a prescription med like Boniva is needed or not...anyone know about a good website? I am 56. T score was -1.6. Post menopausal.

  1. Calcium and exercise.

  2. It depends on what causes the osteopenia. A good diet and exercise program, especially while young, helps bones achieve good density. As we age, the bones tend to thin. Excessive use of carbonated beverages, alcohol, tobacco and certain meds may accelerate the process. Kidney disease and hereditary factors contribute.
