I personally like plasma, because lcd tv's you have that risk of damadging the pixels in the tv and then youll have a little random pixel that just stands out. I have a HD plasma widescreen, and its amazing, i will never regret getting it. I've had ti for so long and its good as new today

I prefer LCD but that is my preference. Both have good quality pictures. In my researching the LCD vs. Plasma issue....I determined that the LCD was best for my wants.

Here is a breakdown real quick: (info from crutchfieldadvisor + personal experience interjected)

Plasma start at about 42 to 65 - if you are looking for smaller go for LCD.

Plasma has the jump on viewing angle - it has excellent but the LCD is not to far behind.

LCD do not have a potential for burn in but the Plasma do.

I noted that at Walmart the Plasma had burn in from a DVD they repeatedly played on the screen (before they changed the setup).

The display panel life is the same at about 60,000.

PLASMA

* Pros: screen's phosphor coating creates lifelike color that is closest to conventional tube TVs

* Cons: vulnerable to burn-in; screen more prone to reflections from room lights than LCD

LCD

* Pros: panels weigh less than plasma and use less energy; burn-in not an issue

* Cons: picture slightly less natural than top plasmas

In my opinion if you are a gamer then you should opt for the LCD since you may leave your game on for extended periods of time.

If viewing angle is what you value most and maximal clarity then the plasma may be for you.

If you are looking for a 32 TV then you may need to look at the LCD. I have only seen plasmas start at 42 +

I am a LCD guy due to there increased life span and quality of picture, they also don't have the problem of image burn.
