What is the best type of bird?

If you were to get a bird a like petco or something wut would you get?

cockatiel.  theyre intelligent, affectonate, and loaded with personality, but not nearly as loud as other parrots.  if you've never lived with a bigger parrot or conure, you really dont know what youre getting into.

Please do not buy a bird from one of these animal big companies.

Find a breeder - at a feed store that sells animal food. They will have a message board that people post on or ask the clerk who raises birds in your area.

Your question is too broad.  Do you want a bird that sings and delights everyone who hears it?  Then a male canary is for you.  Want a bird that will snuggle with you?  Buy a hand fed, hand tame baby lovebird, cockatiel or budgie.  Pet stores are never a good place to buy any animal, IMHO.

I would not GET a bird from Petco or ANY chain petstore for that matter. Go to a private breeder. Youll get a better-quality bird, well-socialized and pay a MUCH fairer price. Petstore markups are obscene.

I have three caiques and NONE of them came from a pet store. I went to private breeders for two of them and one came to me as a second-hand bird.

I saw one for sale at a local pet store and they wanted three times what I paid for ONE bird.
