  1. You can ski off any boat that has enough pickup. Usually outboards have more pickup, not inboards like the other guy said.

For a fishing boat, you want enough open deck space to fish with at least 2 or 3 people. A washable deck is also a MUST, no carpeting! Rod holders are needed too, but those can always be added. You also want somewhere to store bait and caught fish, and a cutting board helps a lot!

  2. I think the U-Boat is the best for both of your choices, its has a large engine so the boat can go fast, and it can also take a beating to.  I say if you really want a boat that crosses both worlds of skiing and fishing go with the u-boat

  3. The difference between any dual purpose boat is the lack of options for anything other than its intended purpose.  You will not find live wells, bait storage.... etc. on a dedicated ski boat you will find a big motor (possibly inboard), tow tower, ski storage... etc.

  4. Four Winns makes a combo fish n ski boat. It has a electric trolling motor on the front for fishing. Fishing boats have deep hulls where ski bouts have lower profile hulls. A true ski boat is for performance ski and wake boarding.( Mastercraft, Sanger, Malibu,  are some popular names) Usually the hull is designed for low wake application making it easier to cut across the wake. The can also carry bladders to increase the weight in the boat to create a larger wake for jumping purposes.

  5. .

  6. my preference is the Stratos 486 fish and ski or a Sea Pro 206 fish and ski ( or dual console ) IF i wanted a fish and ski...

the differences between a fish and ski and just a ski is the "comforts" of the boat. a fish and ski boat is basically a fishing boat that they put a ski tow bar or tower on. the plain ski boat is going to have no livewells, holding tanks, fish boxes etc.. in them and give you more comforts... if you do enjoy both activities a fish and ski is the boat for you.

  7. Go for a Whaler. Best compromise.
