What is the best type of light bulb for outside security lights?

Question

Its for outside the garage and driveway. Which is best, and (very important) has the longest bulb life:

i) a lamp with two x 120W PAR38 reflector bulbs

ii) a lamp with a 150w linear halogen bulb

iii) a lamp with a 300w linear halogen bulb

personally i would go for the 300w linear bulb that's what i have and it turns the garden to daylight in the middle of the night    a great bit o kit and not overly expensive to replace

i.  PAR stands for Pyrex Aluminum Reflective.  The Pyrex is for outside use and will not be effected by rain on the hot surface of the bulb.

iii. If this is an enclosed luminaire and not a bare bulb, this will produce the most illumination, with the best electrical efficiency. (May be overkill for this application)  Bulb life is usually longer for the halogen, altho I did sell some longlife PARs.  If you go PARs try to get the 130V rated and long life.  If you have more questions email.  Be careful not to shine out the neighbors.  150w HID would be my preference 10-20,000 hours
