  1. ninjitsu is the closest thing you can get to ninja training

  2. The best one would be the red ninja style...it shows you how to breathe fire and how to camoflauge yourself and attack amidst a scorching forest fire.  The black ninja style is ok, but highly overrated.

  3. Shogi, or, Japanese chess.

Real world ninja, were divided into, I believe, generals and soldiers.  The soldiers would have captains, who gathered information, and if infiltration was needed, the soldiers would be called to do the dirty work.  The "general" ninja, although I don't know the exact Japanese names or ranks or any reliable site for information (had to put that disclaimer there), I DO know from something I read, that high level espionage, spying on men with power, was handled by general ninja.

See the ninja divided themselves into very strict castes, but very little reliable information is known about them because, well, why else?  They were ninja.  We know as much about them, as most of the world knows about the CIA.  For all we know the real heads of ninja clans were women, not men.  Maybe all that propaganda you see on Japanese T.V. is a lie.  You can't know for sure with spy stuff.

So anyway; actual espionage, then, as now, involves a chess game of lies.  That is basically what espionage is; its a chess game of lies.  One caste of ninja was bred exclusively for brain power; the martial arts they mastered were arts such as Shogi (Japanese chess), or anything having to do with subterfuge and secrecy, they even, it is rumored, developed lying to a highly refined art.  They trained, systematically, to lie well, and espionage agencies now do the same thing actually.  Although...... Japanese ninja have 500 years on them.  You know while speculation, its entirely possible the reason they have developed DNA testing to detect your race and ethnic background, has to do with east asian spies here in america who got plastic surgery to look like white people.  The only way to find out they are east asian, is through DNA testing, so personally I think the technology for the genographic project may have been originally developed by the CIA.

Anyway; they were general ninja, bred to do all the planning, lying, and hobnobbing with the upper classes.  There were the captain ninja who were trained to do the same thing, but on a lower level, and finally, there were soldier ninja who, when the two upper castes failed to acquire information through brains and manipulating people to reveal information, the soldier ninja would actually break into a place and steal something.  Thus, the role of soldier ninja was that of information thievery, soldier ninja were basically thieves all of them.

The martial arts they developed, were designed mainly to escape from a place.  Any ninjutsu they could teach, any martial arts they reveal to the public, is useless in a fight, because, again, its emphasis isn't combat, but getting the h**l away from a place.  The aim of ninjutsu is to train soldier ninja to make a quick getaway without getting caught, any throws, disabling, any sword fighting of any kind, is designed for quick disabling and then getting the h**l away.

But hey; training as a ninja, a real ninja, would be a great way to get in shape.  Real training involved navigating increasingly difficult obstacle courses.  Think about man; street kids, gang members of big cities, what do they do when they run from the cops?  They cut across lawns, they jump over stuff, that kind of thing.  Feudal Japanese figured that their spies would encounter similar problems when escaping so they made the obstacle courses more and more difficult for ninja training.  A truly, that is a REAL ninja, someone trained in the old way would likely easily navigate that ninja warrior course from that show on G4.

That obstacle course wasn't designed from scratch you know; the ninja warrior course was put together by a team of engineers, inspired by actual ninja training obstacle courses.  Their logic was, if you can navigate an obstacle course that insane, there is no place you can't escape from.

Sorry to dissapoint you, but if you want a martial art that will let you be a kung fu hero, go the beijing kung fu institute and train for 8 hours a day every day for 10 years.  If its any consolation if you DO manage, over some crazy quirk of fate, to find someone who knows how to build a ninja obstacle course, at least there won't be a cop on this planet able to catch you!  Or a dangerous crook or psychopath for that matter.

Hope that helps, for actual reliable information visit your local university or college library and go to the east asian studies section.

    peace out.

  4. NInjutsu, a modern version is taught by the Bujinkan in Japan.

  5. ...lol

save yourself some time. Go to your library and read up on the ninja. Most have a good history, and examples of training. If you have difficulties looking it up, which you shouldn't. Try authors Stephen Hayes, who is pretty good about explaining things for our culture.

    good luck

  6. ninjitsu
