What is the best type of paint to create a mural over latex?

You can use artist's acrylic over latex. I painted a mural on a metal door that I painted with High gloss latex. It's been on there for 3 years now. Hasn't faded or worn, and it's an outside door.

artist's oil works well

acrylics work well

flip a coin both have advantages and disadvantages so it is strictly a matter of personal preference at the time of doing the work.

the last mural i did i used acrylics

however i've used oils before and the results were every bit as good.

it's the issue of painting something over a surface that has been previously painted with oil paint that one runs into huge problems   latex eggshel is a wonderful surface to paint on with anything (except watercolor)

i found that the acrylics were in many ways easier to work with

yet i also found that i had much more open time with the oils and that oil is a tad more forgiving.
