What is the best value/sound/quality home theater (surround sound) for under 500.00?

i hear "HTIB's" are iffy at best? HELP?

  1. I would look at this one right here for what you want I think that this may have it. I was looking for one myself about 2 weeks ago and  I was about to get this one and the only reason that i didnt is because my boy hooked me up with a nice Bose system but other then that I would check this one out it has a big subwoofer too so if you like bass this will have it. it runs about 499.00


  2. The best advice I can give you is to save up for awhile. If you go with an HTIB it's really best to get one that has a receiver that doesn't have proprietary connections (in other words, one that you can buy new speakers for that are a different brand). I would suggest starting with Onkyo HT-SP908  but it's around $1,000. This system and the Denon systems have good receivers matched with less than good speakers but you can upgrade them later when your budget increases. The $500 and under systems simply aren't worth the money and component systems for under $500 aren't available (well, perhaps if you go with no-name brand stuff that is sold from the back of a van somewhere).
