What is the best video editting/creating software available?

I currently use Windows Move Maker, but I wish to apply better animations and such to my movies, made with .WMV files.

Is there a more advanced version of this software available? Not too complex, with the same functionality but more professional animations etc

try adobe premire... they created photoshop and it rocks

I haven't tried it out for myself but I have heard some good things about it.
