What is the best washer and dryer for less then $500.00 each?

i have never owned a washer dryer so im doing my research and i was wondering what people think i have narrowed it down to kenmore or maytag but i hear maytag is now made by whirlpool so im not sure any help would be greatly appreciated and i would be purchasing at sears only thanks so much

dont get a washer dryer best to get them seperate cos when i part breaks down it coks up the other part

I always liked my Kenmore's.  (Sears)  My last set lasted 15 years and my husband just got me new ones a few years ago.  The only thing wrong with the last set was a belt broke on the washer.  The dryer (gas) was still good.  We gave them to a younger couple a few years ago when we did this and they are still going.  I had 3 kids, so they served me well.

Stay away from the Maytag.  My washer (less than 2 years old) took 13 visits to get it right.  Whirlpool did buy maytag and the service is bad.  Kenmore gets theirs made buy different companies,  and Sears will be the ones to service them if needed.   I had an inexpensive set of GE that i used for years before giving to my daughter.

kenmore is also whirlpool.  i've had good experiences with kenmore washers and dryers for years. i would recommend them.
