What is the best way for a US citizen to obtain a pardon from the Queen for travel to Canada?

All of the legal work has been done in USA and a USA passport has been issued. Last time my friend travelled to Canada he experienced delays getting across the border due to an old DUI.

Canada is a federal constitutional monarchy.  BTW you don't get pardoned by the Queen, you get pardoned by the Crown.

Check for information on the gov't website and then call if you need any questions answered!  

I would not lie when crossing the border because these people are good at detecting lies and you'll only make things worse for the future.

People are far too honest. If Customs agents -- Canadian or American -- ask you if you have ever been arrested, just look them in the eye and say "No", and they move on to the next question.

If you're honest with them, they'll give you the third degree.

Unfortunately, it doesn't always pay to be honest.

blackmail. actually you could probably travel right into canada and nobody would notice as long as you said "aboot" and added "eh?" to the end of every other sentance.

You get pardoned by the Governor General, not the Crown.

You don't obtain a "pardon", you obtain leave to enter, and it's called "applying for a visa" if you're not eligible for visa-waiver entry.
