What is the best way for me to prepare for a 100 mile run/race.?

I'm in high school currently and I run Cross Country and Track. I'm a two year vetran of the 500 Miler club (running 500 miles during the offseason [3 months]) and I run pretty much any chance I get.

I want to take some risks and chances by running a 100 mile run/race, possibly trail. What are the best ways that I can train for a 100 mile race/run. I really really want to do it. Please, give me any of your trainings or ways that you know.

  1. man 2 years does not make you a veterean at all and you realize that your last 2 years you were averaging less that 6 miles a day if its 3 whole months

    i would suggest not even to think of a 100mile race or even a marathon during highschool they would s***w yourself for the upcoming cross season. running that kind of distance would not help you at all for cc
