I have between 10 and 15 ppm of dissolved iron and about 25 - 30 grains of hardness in my home's well water. I have had 3 different companies visit to propose treatment. One says I need a potassium permanganate (sp?) treatment, one says they have a really great 2 tank softener system that will take care of it, and the 3rd says to use an oxygenator first and then a regular softener. All three ways of dealing with it end up costing about the same. The 2 that said I need more than a softener were both pretty adamant about it. I just want clean clothes. Please help!
