I will be travelling to nicaragua this summer and after I would like to go to the Colombian island of San Andres but all the flight tickets that I have seen online are in the $900s. Does anybody know of an easier way to get there, or another site where the tickets might be cheaper?

  1. I have on lived and worked on both  Providencia and San Andres in the past but the airfares lately have become very expensive. It's still fairly reasonable from Colombia at about US$300R/T (from Cartagena) and I believe around US$500R/T from Panama City,Panama but it goes up sharply from there. You might consider the Corn Islands a Nicaragua territory (I've also worked here) as an inexpensive alternative if you haven't aready been there. They are much much easier to reach.Because San Andres and Provedencia is nearly 500 miles off the coast

they can only be reached (safely) by larger boats or air.

    From Managua it's just a short flight (US$150R/T+/- )

to big Corn island .They are less than 50 miles offshore. You can reach little Corn Is. by a short boat trip from big Corn.

You might also want to consider Venezuela's Isla Margarita It's a nice, inexpensive getaway that is easy to get to and from, or perhaps the Bay Islands of Honduras.Guanaja is the nicest of the three. Roatan the best known and Utila is the least expensive ....Feel free to email me if you have any questions

    Grand theft auto

  3. Colombia and Nicaragua fight over San Andres. I would suggest that you email Adyari.. (shes the 2nd top answerer in Other Latin America and ask her. She is a Nica and would know if anyone would. I am not aware of any direct flights. I know there are some out of Panama and you might connect that way.
