  1. cut it down to a stump.....'cross' the stump and pour creosote on it....

  2. We had ivy that was starting to grow up the side of y]our house. We didn't have any weedkiller so we dug the root up and the rest of it has died off. It's been a few months now and it hasn't grown back.

  3. SBK brushwood killer mixed with diesel

  4. I don't use chemical pesticides in my garden, and neither do most national parks, but the eradication of invasive plants species (like Ivy) is an important job. What I've done, in my garden and in Natural Parks, is dig  and pull up as much of the root as possible. It is important to search below the soil for root fragments, as any piece has the potential to regrow.

It often isn't possible to remove each and every fragment of root or vine, so be prepared for a bit of regrowth. Just yank it out any little sprout you see, it will definitely decrease the ivy.

Also, make sure that you dispose of the pulled ivy properly, by taking it to a landscape waste yard. I would be hesitant to compost ivy, lest I create an ivy nursery elsewhere in my garden.

The use of pesticide or insecticide is up to you, but I'd really discourage it.

Good luck and have fun yanking!

  5. Cut the ivy down to a 1 or 2 inch stump and paint the stump with a small paint brush dipped in Round-up until the stump is wet.  it should not come back.  If it comes back up, it will be in another spots because ivy can send out underground runners.  If this happens, repeat the procedure outlined.

  6. Roundup
