What is the best way of turning an ordinary pick-up into a light strike vehicle?

Would affixing an RPG-7 or PGM heavy machine gune be the best way of accomplishing this purpose? Or would it be more advisable to position a small mortar in the back of the pick-up instead ? Furthemore, what can be done to improve and strengthen the basic frame of the car in terms of its ability to withstand enemy fire? Thanks.

for armor, i suggest welding a cage on the truck, and sticking sand bags in it. it won't help if a tank is shooting at you, but if you are being attacked with RPGs of others similar weapons, it may help to detonate the warhead away from the truck itself, causing less damage.

for a weapon, i suggest a m2 machine gun (.50), or a mk19 grenade launcher (if you have access to one and can afford the rounds). they russian equivlent will also work.

If you have access to that kind of thing sure. Otherwise a turret (also called a coupela... unsure of the spelling) or a machine gun mount.

Unless you have a fleet of these things, or a lot of ground support, you'll probably just become the focal point of a military weapons barrage.

.50 machine gun.  Mortar wouldn't do much good on the move but it wouldn't hurt to carry one for use when stationary.  If you want it to last more than an hour you are going to need some serious armor plating.  Armor is pretty heavy so you also may have to upgrade the engine and tranny.  At the end of the day though nothing you can do will protect you from an Apace Longbow or an M-1 Abrams.
