  1. Like someone said... why would you want to sterilize the dog's bones?

Anything you do to "sterilize" the bones will ruin their good taste.  Dogs often bury bones.  It doesn't hurt them.

If the bone's been around a while and looks really disgusting brownish and blackish colors, then throw it away. -!-

  2. What??  What kind of bones are you talking about??

If they're that bad off, toss em.  Otherwise, rinse with water.

  3. Use soap and hot water. Just be sure to rinse it real good.

  4. Dogs l**k their butts.

They dig in garbage if you let them.

They bury, and dig up and chew on stuff.

They find stuff in the yard to chew on.

They'll eat all manner of rotten and disgusting things if you let them.

A few germs from the yard are the least of your concern.

Rinse it off with the hose and call it good.

If you're paranoid, use hot water and soap.

Find out if it's dishwasher safe.

If it's so disgusting you need to steralize it, MAYBE you shouldn't give it to the dog?

Consider throwing it away and getting a new one.

  5. soak in vinegar..  and/or freeze for 2 weeks.

soap and water is not good, as you can leave soap residue on the bones..

boiling would cook the bone, so that's not a good option either.

vinegar kills alot of bacteria, and its safe to use.. I doubt your dog will like the vinegar taste tho.

  6. I'd wash it off with water, and look at it to be sure there aren't any bugs on it.

  7. put it in some boiling water for about 5 or so minutes.  that will kill off any bacteria in a safe way.

  8. why would you sterilize them? if you won't be putting them in your mouth don't worry about their sterility. dogs bury bones for months, dig them up and chew away on the rotting meat with no ill effects. i bet they've been doing this for millenia...

  9. Most dog appropriate bones can be boiled

  10. why would you do this ???/ it makes no sense ?????
