I recently purchased a 100lb heavy bag (punching bag) and I'm a little concerned about my beam support. What is the bes way to add additional support so my bag will not compromise the beams?

This is the current beam support I have:

  1. Lay a beam at right angles to the floor joists. There are support brackets that can be used to help spread the load across multiple joists. The floor joists are above.  spread the 2x6 beam at least 5 joists, the brackets are at Home Depot.

  2. Get 4 strong planks of wood

    and make a square

then get a metal pole with hook and drill that across two of the planks.

then buy a punching bag swivel and hang that off the hook

then drill it onto your roof and hang the bag.

this is the only thing that worked for me

if you dont have a swivel all the impact from a punch goes into the roof and the beams would probably brake off.

  3. Begin by placing another beam on each side of the beam you are going to use to hang the bag.

s***w these boards into the existing board.

You can hang more than your bag from this support.
