I am openning my own business in a town of jus over 2000 and I need to find the best way to advertise to them. I want to open an event and wedding planning venue that provides a place to have the party and takes care of everything from food and decor to invitations

  1. I advertised in the local papers recently with not much joy.  All the business I am now getting is through word of mouth.

  2. Well, since becoming self employed nearly a year ago, you can imagine that I've tried a ton of things to get the word out in an affordable manner about my business.

Here's a few things that I have found to be successful in generating leads and new business but the only catch on a few of them is that you really need to be consistent.

1.) Order as many free products as you can by using what I have found to be the most affordable, no strings attached way to buy business advertising media. Visit: www.vistaprint.com and register for a free account. When you do this they will send you weekly coupons where you can order all the business supplies you need for the cost of shipping. I've ordered nearly everything they make in the past 12 months and have never been disappointed. For example, I order 250 Premium Business Cards that are unbelievably professional for the cost of $6.50 to ship them to me.  They even make really nifty auto magnets where you can customize them to advertise your business on your auto too which is a great way to get free advertising as you do your daily activities.

2.) Social Media. This is the area where the word 'consistency' is a must. Believe it or not just getting the word out there by creating "MySpace" and "Facebook" accounts and making them look professional can really help generate quality leads. And the best part is: It's free to you. It only takes your time and energy to create it and maintain it..

3.) Joining your local Chamber of Commerce is really, reallly, really helpful. You will have access to all sorts of business, small and large included, 'mixers' where you will be exposed to businesses in the area and it's a great way to 'network' and swap business cards.

4.) Lastly, I'd say since your town is so small in size I'd look into any local, weekly "coupon" books that are sent out via mail to the town on a monthly basis and see if you can affordably advertise in there. It's a great way to get the word out to the masses.

In my local area annual membership is $250 per year and the benefits you get really are unbelievable..

Never give up your dream of having your own business it just takes persistency and determination...Blessings to you,

    -Jana

  3. I am not thebest at this, but I work at a bbq place and we have ads all over the place about local events. I also think there are websites that you can post them. Always put "tell your friends and family!" because it then it wiill spread! Yay hope that helps.
