Question:

What is the best way to aerate pond water ?

I have heard that electrically powered sprays and fountains have the largest carbon footprint while providing the least amount of oxygen transfer to the water. I also have heard that the typical oxygen concentration in a pond is so low in the early morning that fish kills are common in natural bodies of water due to suffocation.

I'm looking for the smallest carbon footprint aeration system that will increase available oxygen throughout the day and night. I DO NOT want to stir up the benthyl layer at the bottom of the pond (it would destroy my hopes of providing any residual oxygen) and I could care less about stratification or destratification as long as the aeraton device is capable of stripping out toxic gases while adding oxygen to my pond.

Any suggestions?

    here are some diffuser ones

  2. fountains and waterfalls will do the job if you really want more some do use jets for their pond and some use pumps with airstones.  Oxygen low during nightime if you got plants since they consume oxygen during nightime instead of carbondioxide.  That also depend of what time of pond are you having and what type of fish do you have?  if foutain alone without a filter then you have a problem.
