What is the best way to find and apply for a job as a roughneck at the Alberta tar sands? Aside from the job finder web sites. Do the oil companies have their own web sites?

Send a letter to the head guy at the plant, enclosing your resume. Ask him to please forward it to the man in charge of hiring.

If you were in charge of hiring, who would get the most attention:

a) A letter from some joe soap you never heard of.

b) A memo from the CEO requesting that you hire somebody.

This is a well known and effective technique.
