  1. Ask

  2. make up some story as to why you do not want the current room and be nice when relating it to the concierge.

if that does not work offer paying for the upgrade

  3. hey lovely123

i saw this video on about.com about how to get a room upgrade a couple weeks ago.

you can watch it here http://video.about.com/hotels/Get-a-Free...

or you can just read the tips they give:

(1)Ask for a Hotel Upgrade Early

Tip number one - ask three times. Submit your first request for an upgrade when you make your reservation, your second when you confirm your room a few days before arrival, and your third when you check in. Sure, but how exactly do you get someone to give you something that other people are paying extra money for, for free? Well, not by being an stuffy, entitled dip-wad, that's for sure.

    (2) Be Considerate to the Hotel Staff

Tip number two - be nice. Nice people like to help other nice people, and given how many jerks hotel staff have to deal with on a routine basis, you'll probably do well just by remembering simple things like smiling and being polite. If you've got the luxury of being able to shift around your schedule a bit, you might increase your chances of getting that upgrade as well. Generally, the more flexible you can be, the more flexible the hotel can be, too.

    (3)Plan Your Stay Strategically

Tip number three - timing is everything. Try planning your travel away from holidays and other times people typically vacation, and if you can arrange your stay for a week night, even better. And, if you only need the room for one night, you're more likely to get a better room for the asking, as the hotel won't have to worry about it being tied up in the event they can sell it the next day.

Along the same lines, if you show up an hour or so past check-in time, hotel staff will have a better handle on which rooms are likely to be empty, and therefore more inclined to offer you the bump. Just don't be too late, or the manager who might need to approve the move could be gone for the day, or even worse, you might find your room given to someone else.

    (4)Join the Hotel Loyalty Program

Tip number four - be loyal. Join a hotel's frequent guest program the first night you stay there. Also, be sure to let the hotel manager know how great your stay was when you check out. Leave it in writing with your contact info, and there's a better than slim chance you'll get a return letter with some sort of token of the hotel's appreciation.

Of course, that might only be a mint, too, but it's these little things that can make all the difference. And finally, my favorite, try letting the hotel know it's a special occasion for you. Granted, this info and five bucks might only get you a big latte, but I've also been given a fruit basket, wine, and a floral bath just for letting them know it was my wedding anniversary. It was only our three month anniversary, mind you, but let's not get lost in the details.

    hope that helps~*

  4. Tell them you don't like the room, and politely ask if the have another a bit bigger , or you were expecting something a bit different...

Ask the Manager...they want to keep the guests happy if its available they may move you..

Do it as you check in and see the room.

  5. Ask politely when you check in, and tipping the desk clerk usually helps!

  6. Ask politely if there is any rooms available for an upgrade at no extra charge. You can say it's a birthday ,anniversary, a graduation, anything that will make your stay more enjoyable. You can also say your a repeat customer. The important thing is to be polite.

Of course, the last resort is to pay for it, maybe at a discounted rate.

    Good Luck and enjoy)
