Question:

What is the best way to attach silk flowers to flip flops?

I'm embellishing rubber flip flop sandals with a few small silk flowers. Each individual flower has a tiny "stem" at the base with tiny silk leaves attached. The stem is less than 1/4 inch long but must remain attached as it holds the flower together. I'm trying to attach the flowers to the "Y" on the strap (the part that goes between the big toe and attaches to the sole). Craft glue probably won't hold the flowers in place permanently, and I worry that wire might rub against my foot and be uncomfortable. Any ideas?

  1. First, see if you can cut the tip of the flower stem of  and hot glue te base of the flower together first.  Depending on how wide your "y" is on your shoe - either use some hot glue for attatchment or you can actually stitch the flowers on by hand. Good Luck

  2. Definitely try to stitch them in.  You can use invisible thread, and I would not go through the rubber, but rather fo through the flower and then around the rubber part.  If you start piercing the flip-flop, in time it may start tearing.  Do not use glue, unless you plan on only looking at the flip flops.  Once you start wearing them, glue (especialy hot glue) will start bending, flowers will loosen and start falling out.  Depending on where you are, that could be embarrasing.

  3. I would take a Needle and Thread and do a little hand tacking ,very small stitches and clear  thread. Your right the glues will not hold the flowers on for to long. I have made a lot of flip flops and the Stitches works very well. Well worth the time and will not fall off when your out. Good Luck ;)))

  4. try a little bit of hot glue.  you can get a small hot glue gun for a couple of bucks at a hobby store or even the dollar tree.  Just a little dot and press the flower on and hold it till it hardens.  this would also work if u wanted to put some rhinestones or sequen thpe things on as well.
