What is the best way to attach wood to a marble tile wall without using screws? What glue should I use?

I have a piece of wood finish trim in my bathroon I need to install against a tiled marble wall. In theory, I could s***w the piece in through the marble and hardibacker with anchors, cut plugs to fill the holes etc. If that is the only way it can be done, then I guess I will do it that way, but that seems like overkill here, it is just a small skirt board that goes under a window sill. I'm hoping I can just get some kind of epoxy or glue that will bond to both marble and wood effectively. This is a remodel and I've not sealed the marble wall yet, so the marble is still pretty porous, if that matters at all.

Also, should I seal the marble to prevent whatever I use from bleeding down through the marble over time and discoloring it? It's white marble tile so anything that bleeds through/discolors the tile beneath the window would be a disaster.

  1. Believe it or not, you can buy marble and granite adhesive. Just google it.

  2. My favorite for jobs like this is "The Amazing Goop"   It's a rubbery gel contact cement.  Costs about $4 a tube.

  3. Use Locktite, it has a fast grab and will adhere pourous to non-pourous surfaces.  Just use enough to bond the two together so you don't get any seepage.  Seal the marble after you adhere your wood to it.

  4. Use a hot glue gun put dabs along the edge of the trim and stick it in place.  After it sets, caulk the edge with a good silicone or paintable caulk.  Good Luck to You.
