I've started up an NGO in an unspecified non-EU European aspiring EU country and I need to raise a substantial amount of money - Does anyone have any suggestion-ideas on how to get more funds/grants to invest in my project? Information on any specific ones would be good.

  1. First, you need to be fully transparent: for anyone who asks, you need to have ready a list the name of your board of directors, a budget about what your expenses will be for the next year, copies of paperwork that shows you are a registered NGO with the government, and a business plan for at least your first year, showing how many staff you have hired/will hire, how you will involve volunteers, etc. You also need to have letters of reference from other organizations/institutions and government officials that endorses your efforts.

Even better -- you need a web site that has most of this information online.

Once you have all of this, you are ready to approach donors. And the best way to do this is LOCALLY -- local offices of international NGOs and international corporations that have investments in that area and care about such.
