  1. Practice, practice, practice,,and don't be afraid to shoot the ball.  Once you start building up your confidence shooting the ball will become a natural instinct. and always focus and keep your mind on the game!

  2. I work with little kids to help them become shooting guards [grades 3-5].  What u have to do is go out on the court with a friend or someone.  Have them feed u the ball from under the basket while ur moving around and taking jumpers.  This will help u when the pointguard passes u the ball for a jumpshot.  U should also work on speed layups. Although the Point usaully does that it wouldnt hurt for u to learn. Practice passing and foul shots 2.  Shooting guards get fouled just as much as the Pointguards.  Work hard!!

  3. watch my high school videos. . from lastyear. . i had the most stroke on the squad. . .really i did but im kidding about the video part. . . . .PRACTICE everyday  working hard ALWAYS pays off

  4. practice makes perfect

  5. on offense you will most likely be a scoring option so make sure you're an all around scorer like kobe bryant or lebron james.

one thing that will be very useful for you is a cosistent 3-point shot like michael redd. if your range isn't that good then you can be like dwyane wade and drive the lane with no fear. just make sure you have some good of hang time so that you can adjust your body in the air to draw contact to make them foul, get a good look at the basket, etc..

on defense you will need to ruthlessly guard the perimiter by challenging jumpshots, cutting off open lanes, and if possible, make steals.

here are some players i suggest you watch. they're not all shooting guards, but copying their abilities can help you on the court.

*scoring - kobe bryant, lebron james, tracy mcgrady, paul pierce, allen iverson

*3-points - michael redd, ray allen, gilbert arenas

*driving the lane - dwyane wade, vince carter

*defense - ron artest, shane battier

    *steals - chris paul

  6. Well, a prototypical Shooting Guard is the guy who, as the name suggests, is a very good shooter. In the NBA today, Many Shooting Guards aren't terribly good shooters. They get by on raw athleticism.

If you can drive well, then Shooting Guard does sound like your natural position. I would suggest to work on shooting a lot. You can never be a good enough shooter.

As far as driving, the best way to practice this is to play in pickup games. THis helps you knjow what to do when faced with different situations.

Defense- the best way to become a better defensive player is to guard THE Best player on your team when you practice, The other team's best player, and to take challenges.

Just like Shooting, you can NEVER be a good enough bal handler. Go to Google and type in "Dribbling drills" The second link and the 6th link are the two i recommend.

Good luck! I hope this helps.

  7. A good shooting guard needs a good jumpshot. Practice your jumpshot form and adjust yourself if you need to. If you think your form hinders your shot percentage, then tweak your form or use other player's forms. (You don't have to take Ray Allen's form because his is not suited for everybody. Try many forms like Kobe's or Marion's if you can.) Then start shooting from different positions so that you're not a 1 spot guy, but keep in mind which spot has the highest percentage, almost all nba players have a spot where they like to go. Then comes driving. Although IMO not the most important part of a sg, you still need to diversify your offense. Practice driving with a buddy from the three point line. Also practice getting open because you'll never get the ball if a defender is right next to you, ready to steal the ball. For defense, just try to stay on your man, but don't come into too much contact. Always try to contest a shot, but be watchful of tricks like jabsteps and pumpfakes.

  8. first of all, u need to have a high precentage shot, so practice. u need to learn how to move without the ball. n learn how to point out screens and open areas in the court. ray allen is an excellent player to watch and model your style after.

  9. PRACTICE SHOOTING BECAUSE THATS WHAT SHOOTING GUARDS DO LOOK AT RAY ALLEN,AND SEE HOW HE PRACTICE.JUST SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT NUTHING ELSE

  10. practice

  11. You have to be able create a high volume of shots on offense. And guard the opponents best perimeter player on defense. And take your opponents off the dribble.
