  3. it's not irish...it's gaelic.

    You can get a Teach Yourself book, or take classes, but the book is pretty easy, and the classes are pretty ahrd to find and expensive.

  7. Go live in the Irish speaking areas. Total immersion. Try west Cork?  Very few people speak Irish day by day and the Irish learned in schools is c**p.

    Irish is easy to learn but is different from other European languages.

    And the language is "Irish" as you correctly say. It is NOT Gaelic. Gaelic (pronounced locally 'gellick') is a similar language to Irish and derives from it, but is spoken mainly in the western isles of Scotland.
