  1. It takes practice, which is "THE best way" to become good at overhand serving.

When I was coaching for USYVL, none of my 10-year-old players could do overhand, even under-hand, when they started their season, but after two-three meets, I would say all of them were able to make 40%+ over hand serves... their net was a little lower though.

My boy was on that team, and the next year he made the 7th-grader's team at his school when he was the only 6th grader playing on the team. His serve had been the most consistant during the season, rated at 19 out of 20 if you tell him "serve to the middle".

  2. 1.) Grab a partner and put 'em on the opposite side of the net as you. First grab a volleyball and jump as high as you can to HAND it 2 one another OVER the net. Do this all the way down the net.

2.)Squats!!!!! Put on your favorite song and do double and triple squats through the whole thing. Do it at least twice a day. That will work your calf muscles and your thighs.

  3. practice makes perfect :D

  4. Practice. Talk to your coach and see what you are doing wrong. this is my fourth year playing and i have just gotten used to overhand. You can do it! and be happy that you have a serve you can use in games.

  5. lift weights and keep practicing. one of my friends ( she is 14 and 5') just got the ball over the net last year and I was amazed and happy! I don't know what she did though, but i think it was the weights.

                 good Luck!!
