I have a newborn coming in 2 months and I want to know how should I budget my finances for three months while my girlfriend is home (she doesn't get paid for maternity leave)

I bring home about 1,400 a month and its taking me so long to find another part time job! I have about 2,700 saved.I want to know with rent 725 mnth, food, traveling expenses, gas, cable, and electric, how should I budget and will I have enough to cover 3 months while in my search for another part time job. She will be going back to work in Feb.

I need really good answers (put yourself in this situation), because we are so worried at this point. I am a young guy trying to do my best for my lady that love dearly. I hate seeing her stressed so im asking you people to save me!! Give me some ideas and let me hear your stories. Thank you so much!

  1. Okay so you will have $675.00 left per month after paying for rent if you earn $1400 per month.

Try buying the cheaper brands of food when you do your shopping and only buy however much you know will be eaten/used. With the electricity bill try cutting down on that too. Maybe light some candles if you are watching tv instead of having any lights on? Make sure once you leave a room you always turn the light off and switch off appliances at the wall as that will save ALOT of power towards your bill.

Regarding gas prices maybe try taking the train or something to work and buying a weekly ticket for a while?

I am in Australia so I'm not 100% sure how things work where you are.

My partner earns $620.00 AUD per week and we sit down every weekend and write down how we are going to budget on his next pay (because I am out of work at the moment and we are trying to save money).

Write everything down, it seems to help us ALOT
