What is the best way to call from England to the US?

We will be in England for 10 days and like to call our kids in the US almost daily, of course our cell phones wont work international (unless we pay for an outrageously priced plan), so what is the best way to contact the US, should we get a phone card or are there prepaid cell phones for international calls or other options?
