He is 13 weeks old, and rarely wants to go for walks, so he is still hyper in the house, and wont listen to commands, any advice would be great.

  1. At 13 weeks you should enrol him in a training school. as it sounds like your already letting 'it' make decisions for you. Another 10 weeks and you will have no chance of controlling him.

  2. Lwould take him out for a walk befor going out yourself  that is providing he has had his injections.. Let him play with his favourite toy or blanket while you are not there and then you could wear him/her out by playing in the garden. Or you could afterwards put up a baby gate while you hang out the washing ect gradually he will get used to you not being in the same room as you and every time he does not bark or yelp while you are not around give him a treat and his favourite blanket or toy and gradually you will be able to leave him /her and your puppy will not even know that you have gone out. Make it short periods for a while and then he will be ok. Perhaps you may have a friend or nieghbour who would be kind enough to pop in for a while and then he won,t need you until you come back. Good luck as they will be quite content to curl up on there favourite blanket and give him a treat when you come back.. Take him/her to dog training lessons when old enough.

  3. Take him for a walk. Maybe try making it more fun like fetching a ball or near a river where he can swim but going for a walk should never be optional. Remember the rules you set now at this early age will be hard to break/re-train, you really need to teach him now how he should behave.

Personally i think you'd benefit from a good dog training book, one that covers puppies and adult dogs. Your probably reinforcing bad behaviour without even knowing it. Isn't allowed Through doors, is never given treats or even given attention before sitting, laying down or giving a paw. Reminds him that i'm the boss and keep all his commands sharp. Just from following simple directions in a book i now have a very well behaved dog.

  4. if you have a crate put him in there for 5 minutes until he calms down.everytime he plays up do this until he gets the message.

  5. well all i can say is play with him for a while and tire him or if  he keeps badly behaving put him\her i the garden and don't let your dog in until its quiet when its quiet reward him with tickles or treats but only give the dog treats when its done good or t will keep misbehaving . also watch the dog whisperer.

  6. enrol him into puppy school! you also should not let a dont tell you he dont wanna go out for a walk your puppy needs to know whos in control!

  7. i watched that its me or the dog program and the lady on it said you massage its neck when its sitting down and it works i tryed it on my grandads dog hope it helps

  8. Your puppy is 13-weeks-old, surprise!!! At 13-weeks-old puppies have lots of energy, they just do.  He may do better with the leash soon, so keep working on that, although, just taking him for a walk won't drain all that energy.  Hang in there, it does get better.

  9. He's obviously got too much energy, he's young anyway so he's bound to be lively. So, whether or not he WANTS to go for walks, he should be outside burning off his energy somehow. It's also an ideal time for thinking about a proper training program, you might find the classes are a good distraction for him, and you'll have lots of fun together. Call around and get him registered for puppy training - good luck!

  10. You should be taking him for short walks at regular times whether he "wants" to or not. Puppies are often apprehensive about leaving familiar surroundings and don't like going for walks until they get used to it. Hyper just means he's not trained, when he starts going over the top, put him out of the room for a few minutes, then let him back in. If he starts again - put him back out. If you have a crate for him, put him in there, he'll probably settle down & go to sleep if nothing is going on.
