What is the best way to capture footage from my cannon z750 mini dv camcorder to my computer?

If your Camcorder has a firewire or USB2 connector port.. either of them would work fine. Be sure to get the correct connector size, as camcorders usually have a far smaller sized socket than regular PC sized conection ports.

Firewire (IEEE1394a, i.Link)... this assumes your computer has a firewire port. If it does not have one, they are typically easy to install - and cheap.

USB does not have a good track record for miniDV tape transfer.

... and you will need a Firewire (IEEE1394a, i.Link) cable. 4-pin (camera DV port) to whatever your computer's firewire poer is... most times 6-pin, but sometimes 4-pin.
