  1. Murphy's Oil Soap and hot water. fyi parkay isnt spelled like that its parquette

  2. should you say parquet.

you can't clean them up just to make them super new...or you can let them shine by applying floorwax.

what you need to do to have a super new look on your parquet floor--hire a service of a carpenter that should grind the outer layer of your parquet.

    goodluck.

  3. At 20 plus years your parquet floors are due to be sanded and refinished. You could try cleaning them with vinegar and warm water but chances are slim they will look that much better.

Call a professional hardwood floor refinishing company (not a carpenter) they can be found in your local Yellow Pages. Look for a company that has been in business a long time. Most companies offer free estimates. Parquet flooring does not have that much wood surface to sand (even when new), so I definitely would not recommend attempting to sand them yourself.

The hardwood flooring refinishers would also be able to tell you if your flooring could be simply buffed and recoated (not likely, due to their age and who knows what has been put on them over the years) which is a lot cheaper than a complete sand and refinish.^
