I have tried the ear candles. 2 for each ear and my ears are still stopped up feeling. It did seems to pull some wax out, but I want to explore other ways. I have also tried flushing out my ears with drops and syringe. Any suggestions?

  1. yes.....i am just getting over an ear infection....try the olive oil in your ear....the wax and oil will drain out the following day

  2. Ear candling worked for me, though maybe you have extreme amounts of wax in your ears.  Ear buds seem to irritate the ear canal and thus some of the wax you remove gets restored.  They're also notorious for perforated eardrums.

You can also go see an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist to get your ears syringed properly.

  3. A doctor doesn't need to syringe your ear wax, ask a nurse to do it.

  4. Safer than alcohol and candling- simple hydrogen peroxide.   A drop in each ear tilting your head to hold it in the longest.  Try this a couple of times a day till clear then just 2sx a week.

It fizzes but is otherwise very simple and not unpleasant at all.

  5. Ear candling doesn't actually work, and is potentially harmful, lots of cases of perforated eardrums, and burns.

The simplest home remedy is just some olive oil in your ears at bedtime. Put a little wad of cotton as well, so it won't leak over your pillow.  If you do that for 1-2 weeks you should dissolve a lot of the earwax.  You may still need to have the ears flushed, but usually a nurse will do it.  There are also commercial products to dissolve wax, but they don't work any better than olive oil

Alcohol actually dries out the ear wax and makes it harder to remove, and peroxide bubbles away, but does nothing.

EDIT  Dave Gould....ear candling is completely useless, and has been clinically proven as such.

Using an ENT specialist to flush wax out of your ears is ridiculous, what a waste of their time and training.  What stupid advice!!! Any nurse or trained medical office assistant can do the very simple procedure of gently flushing out the ears

  6. Get some isopropyl alcohol. Take the bottle in the shower with you. Pour some in the cap, tilt your head to one side, and pour the alcohol in your ear. Count to 10. Straighten your head and rinse out the residual alcohol. Repeat with the other ear.

Alcohol dissolves the lipids that constitute ear wax. Do this 2x per week, you should be all cleaned out in a few weeks.
