What is the best way to clean my deep fryer?

I cannot submerse it in water, so a deep soaking is out of question. Is there a good degreaser I can use?...one that is friendly to the fryer and all that will be cooked in it afterward?

Here is my fryer...

Thanks!

  1. Ask the manufacturer.  That way you don't accidently void your warrenty.  Here is the website to post your question.  I have done this with many other products where either I lost the instructions or never had them. I've almost always got a reply back.

  2. Use vinegar and water, that'll help cut through the grease layer.

  3. I can't submerse mine either.  I fill the sink with hot water and soap and get a rag.  First, dump the old oil into a can to throw out.  then i take paper towles or newspaper and wipe out what is left in the fryer.  Then I spray simple green or 409 or any othey degreaser in it on the sides.  take more paper toels or newspaper and get all the grease you can from the walls.  it shoul look pretty clean now. Take the rag u had ealier and dip it into the hot soapy water.  use this to clean the fryer and then rinse the rag and then use it to wipe out rinse the sopy water you justed wiped on the inside.  mine come clean every time with no problems at all.

  4. you cant submerse in water BUT you can fill with water just like you would do with oil!

Start cleaning your deep fryer by cooling the oil so that it is not piping hot, and then drain it out of the fryer. You can drain the oil into an old coffee can and seal it up to dispose of it without creating a huge mess.

Next, use a spatula to thoroughly scrape any old food or stuck-on oil off of the inside of the fryer. Once you have scraped any of the large stuff out of it use a paper towel to remove any remaining residue. You want as much of the oil to be removed from the fryer before you start washing it as possible to make cleaning it easier.

Now you will want to fill up your deep fryer with water to the same level that you fill it with oil and add some grease-fighting dishwashing liquid to the water. You don't need a lot of dishwashing liquid - just enough to help break up the remaining oil and make washing the deep fryer easier.

Plug in the deep fryer and allow it to heat up until the water starts to boil. After the water is boiling leave it running for about 10 minutes to let it go to work on getting rid of the remaining oil in your deep fryer. The motion of the bubbles will help to "scrub" and dislodge any stuck on oil or food. After about 10 minutes unplug the deep fryer and allow the water to cool a bit before dumping it out.
