What is the best way to clean perches?

Im trying to find out how to clean my conure's wooden perches, sandy perches and wooden toys. Anyone have any bird safe ideas.

  1. You can buy a perch scraper for somewhere around a dollar.  That will help you scrape off any droppings.  Wash the perches in warm, soapy water, rinse them well and make certain they are totally dry before putting them back in the cage.  

    Most perches are porous and cannot be totally disinfected so it's best not to swap perches between birds and cages, just in case one has some hidden illness.  If a bird becomes ill or dies, it's best to toss the perches and all other porous materials into the trash and begin with new perches after the bird has been treated (or before you get another bird).  Better safe than sorry.

  2. i just clean with warm water. that always works fine.

    i'm afraid to use any cleaner, in case i don't get it all off.
