What is the best way to clean sunbrella boat canvas?

We recently purchased a boat and the canvas needs to be cleaned badly. It's stained on the outside and covered in mildew on the inside. I've tried scrubbing it with various cleaners but it still looks dirty. Suggestions?

Diluted solution of chlorine, scrub with a broom, leave two minutes then rinse of thoroughly..will be good as new...(Chlorine has bleaching effect so make sure you rinse well)...will also work on the captains seat, any plastic or vinyl..

If you don't want to use bleach, because it may cause the color to change, soak the sunbrella in a strong vinegar solution, which will kill the mildew.  Then use a scrubbing brush and hot soapy water to scrub it inside and out, rinse it well and see how it looks.   Best of luck with it.

You can also contact Sunbrella directly (I think they are in CT.) and send them your canvas. It comes back cleaned and ready to repel the elements. They usually have an ad in Northeast Powerboating.
