My slate pool table has seen better days and the cloth is quite dirty (mainly beer stains!) What is the best way to clean it without damaging the cloth?

  1. brush and dry-cleaning liquid

  2. Depends how dirty it is.  If its not too bad then a suade brush might sort things out.  if it's really bad then geting your table re-clothed might be an idea but I know that's not cheap especially if you want a good job done. One small point for future reference.......Ban beer from being consumed near the table or at the very least try to stop players putting their pint glasses on the table.

  3. with a swaid brush!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. New Simonis cloth

If its in that bad shape -or a dirt vac- brush -Chalk off - And a better class of players

  5. you can use a brush, and only brush the cloth from the D going down. do't change direction.

if you really care for you're cloth you can buy caring products for it from www.worldsnooker.com

  6. With a reasonably stiff brush, brush firmly from the 'D' end down to the bottom of the table and then use a vacuum cleaner to go over the cloth and collect the dust then brush it again.

Once you have done this get the iron you iron your shirts with and go over the table in the same direction as you brushed. If the cloth is sythetic 'speedcloth' the iron should not be too hot but if your cloth is proper woolen baize get the iron reasoably hot before you go over the table. When you iron the cloth start at a pocket at the 'D' end and iron down the cushion to the pocket at the bottom of the table and then start at the top of the table moving slightly towards the middle as you would if your were mowing a lawn until you have moved fully across the cloth.
