What is the best way to control automatic car speed on long down hill drive without 'burning' brakes?

  1. Put it in a lower gear.  Use the brakes in bursts.


  2. When going down hill,it depends on the degree of the hill you are about drive.if its too high,just put the gear on 1 or 2nd gear.if its not too steep,put the gear on the 3rd gear and step on the brakes little by little not fixing your foot on the brake pedal.as long as you control the car and the speed its the best and safest way to do it.No brake burning!

  3. put it in neutral and let if roll.

    oh wait auto. just don't accelerate

  4. if the car has an over drive turn  it off . other wise go down one gear the car will still wind up some and you will intermittently have to use the brake.
