What is the best way to create a internet and street marketing buzz for my audio cds

I created a audio cd and need a cost effective way to help promote and sell it while creating a buzz to keep it going even when I'm not working. Thanks.

I use autosurf programs like www.topsurfing.net to get free hits to your site. They help a lot in getting your website higher in the search engines. I have never paid for any advertising and my sites do well in search engines.

The answers given so far will be a waste of time if you are marketing your music.  You do NOT want to spend time optimizing your search engine results.  Put yourself in the shoes of your future fan; Is someone going to google "reggae" and then buy a CD?  Typically not.

How do they know to search for your name?  They don't. They never heard of you.  

No matter what type genre your music is; go where the larger artist in your genre is.   If you ARE reggae, then have a presence on Bob Marley internet sites and have a presence where reggae concerts are.

Go to those genre-type sites and you'll see places to "billboard" your CD like it was grammar school.   (It's easy kid!)

There is also the tactic used by many bands to go on Myspace or Facebook and create a profile.  Link your music for sale or sample. Friend everyone who is a friend of bands in your genre.   This doesn't work well and is largely a waste of time.  Trust me.  It doesn't work.  Don't let anyone tell you different.  

Go where the larger "reggae" artist spent millions of dollars on advertising to attract fans of YOUR TYPE of music.  (Pro's call it ambush marketing.)

Also, spend $20 and read the book, Guerrilla Marketing.
