  1. cut to the left

  2. There is no "best" way.  You cannot affect the outcome of the shoe with your cut since the cards are completely randomized.  Cutting in one place versus another may have a better result, but there is no way you can know where to cut to produce a good shoe.

  3. When somebody does the "thin to win" line, I usually do "thick's the trick." :)

Since cards are given 2 at a time, simply cutting will have little effect. imho, if you are playing alone with the dealer, and there's a particularly bad run of cards, what you _should_ do to try to mix it up is take a bad hit. that would throw off the order by 1 card, thus allowing you to get the hands the dealer would have gotten.

  4. It really doesn't matter. I've heard "thin to win" and all that a million times, but it doesn't matter where you put the cut card. The odds are always in the casino's favor. BTW, clards are not given two at a time. They're only given one at a time.  There are all kinds of "logical" reasons people give for the way they cut, but it doesn't matter if you cut at the top, bottom, or in the middle. The odds will never, ever be in your favor. You may win sometimes and win big. If you do, take the money and RUN! And please, please don't assume that what worked for you Monday will work for you Wednesday.

  5. on average it doesnt matter.

If you are a card counter, and you saw the previous shoe, and the shuffle, you may be able to decide a good place to cut it.

If not, there is no ideal place that will have any effect on the game.  If you can manipulate a card valued 2-7 to below the shuffle point, that maybe the dealler accidently exposed to you during the shuffle it will slihtly help your odds, but not very much.

Likewise a card valued 9-a will hurt you slightly, and an 8 will have almost no effect whatsoever.

If you think there is a card conter at the table, the best move would be to pas the cutcard to him/her as there is at least a chance that they employ shuffle tracking techniques also and may cut the cards favorable for the next shoe.  Im one of those guys, so if you see a young tall guy in a bucket hat, hand me the cut card.

If you dont see recegnise any card counters, just assume the person at third base is a counter, as thats where they usually sit to give themselves a tiny extra advantage.

  6. "Thin to win" is the way I go.  Does it *really* effect the play?  Not really, but superstitious players will have their preferences.  I like to cut thin towards the front when I'm winning and thin from the backside of the deck when it's not so good.
