When you absolutely understand what your boss is asking you to do, and fully have a grasp on the responsibilities of your position, how do you get a boss to not spoon-feed you information and tasks like a preschooler?

  1. Try going on the offensive.  When you get a new assignment, jump in and tell your boss in detail how you will approach.  It's hard to spoon feed someone who has already detailed all of the information.

If you try this a few times, your boss might start backing off.

If not, then I'd suggest setting up a one-on-one meeting. Raise the topic of communication w/ your manager, and ask how you can better make him or her confirmable that you are on top of your responsibilities.

    Good luck!
