What is the best way to drill a hole in a billiard ball?

I want to drill an approximately 12mm hole most of the way through the center of an ordinary 8 ball in order to make a shifter k**b for my car. What is the best way to accomplish this without cracking the ball? I have access to a drill press and most ordinary tools.

Why drill a hole in a perfectly good 8 ball? You can buy shifter k***s that look like an 8 ball. They weigh less and are easier to shift. You can get them at most auto parts store

Drill press and a verrrry slow speed 200-400 RPM

Yeah use a tile drill bit and take it nice and steady (i had one shatter on me before by trying to rush it). I've also been told to have water tricking over the ball whilst your drilling, can't vouch for that though.

You could take it to a machine shop and they will drill the hole to your exact specs. You can also buy shifter k***s at auto parts stores.
